Established in 2003, the Scottish Glaucoma Club meets twice a year, for interactive case discussion and updates on research, clinical data collection, shared care models, guidelines and education. Members are glaucoma specialists from across Scotland, however senior trainees and others with an interest in glaucoma are welcome to attend.
The first meeting was held in March 2003, in Edinburgh, and continues to be held twice a year, in February and September, immediately following the Scottish Ophthalmological Club meetings.
The Club also hosts an annual 'Scottish Glaucoma Symposium', in Edinburgh at the Royal College of Surgeons. Usually held on the third Friday in June, it was first held in 1999, and the meeting became annual in 2005. This is a popular and well attended event.
We usually welcome some nationally renowned speakers, leaders in the field of glaucoma; as well as updates and inspiration from local specialists and occasionally trainees.
The annual meeting would not have happened without the enthusiasm, drive, and persuasive powers of Professor Roshini Sanders who has ensured that each year we have had a high quality and educational meeting. She has since stepped down as chair-person of the club but remains very much on the Scottish glaucoma scene.
Our next meeting will be held in Edinburgh on Friday 21st June 2024. Please see further information on Meetings' page.
